ANGOLA

stay 3/Dec/2004.. 25/Dec/2004

outlook
The public language is Portuguese. The hotels are very expensive. But you cannot bush-camp because of the land mines. The road condition is very bad. You cannot drive a long distance per a day because you have to avoid many big pits on the road. The police is unreliable. You should think they demand money when they see you especially in Luanda.
I got a visa at Libreville (GABON). CFA40,000, CFA60,000 (refer to 'Gabon.doc'). A certain tourist couldn't get it at Point-noire (CONGO). Japanese tourists got visas at Lusaka (ZAMBIA) in June/2005.

note;
Dec?/2005 ANGOLA embassy in Libreville (GABON) issued double entry visa.

money
$1=kz89 (Dec/2004) (reference: 6 months before, $1=kz85)
No ATM (In Lusaka you can find ATM but they are not for international credit card.)

To exchange money by the street changers is dangerous. When you exchange money by them, policeman runs up to you and takes the money.

To buy US$ is difficult for tourist.

petrol; 34/L, light oil; 25/L (standardized price)
Petrol is cheap, but a shortage of stock. The price one year ago was 12/L, 6 months ago was 20/L. So the price of petrol has been rising.

can of beer, soft drink (340ml); 50..100, bread; 10..25, mineral water (1.5L); 100..200, stick beef; 50, milk (500ml); 150, wine (1L); 160
You can use US$ for shopping, too.
